What a shantyman !

Just some words for our OverChannel friends (and all the others) :

 

As you know, of course, lots of shanties come from england, because shantymen were in front of sailors coming from all the world. So they had to sing for all of them : in english, please !

One of the last famous was Stan Hugill, discovered in France at the end of the last century, with John Wright. If you look for shanties in every countries, you will find some of the songs he used to sing.

That is why we have some shanties in our index. Come to hear them, with pleasure.
